Care And Maintenance Guide – Furniture And Appliances
Taking care of your furniture and appliances helps preserve their beauty, comfort, and performance over the years. Here are some simple and effective tips to help you get the most out of them.
Maintenance and prevention of your furniture
A sales consultant can guide you effectively once all the information is known (room dimensions, ceiling height, openings, access). This allows us to offer you furniture perfectly suited to your space.

Before any installation, take the time to read the assembly manual. For certain steps (legs, modular connectors, batteries, or complete assembly), additional assistance may be required.

Seat and back cushions will naturally soften with use, especially during the first year. Creases may vary depending on the type of filling and are considered normal. For even wear, we recommend alternating the use of different seats in modular furniture.
Light colors bring a bright and elegant look to your decor. To preserve them, be mindful of color transfer from dark clothing (e.g., jeans). Using decorative throws is an excellent preventative measure.
This type of transfer is not covered by manufacturer warranties.
In case of spills:
- Blot immediately with a dry, light-colored cloth to prevent liquids from penetrating.
- For stains (wine, coffee, body fluids, etc.), act quickly.
- Use a mild soap, free of harsh chemicals, and blot rather than rub to avoid spreading the stain.
- Wipe away any water from wooden surfaces.
No fabric or leather upholstery is completely resistant to scratches, pet hair, or stains. Each type of covering has its advantages: choose the one that best suits your lifestyle. To extend the life of your furniture:
- Protect it with slipcovers or throws.
- Vacuum regularly with an appropriate attachment.
- Ventilate the room to reduce odors.
- Avoid direct sunlight: Wood, fabrics, leather, and many other materials can change or discolor over time. Ideally, place your furniture out of direct sunlight to preserve its appearance longer.
- Consider heat sources and humidity: Keep furniture away from radiators, fireplaces, and heating systems to prevent cracking and warping. Stable ambient humidity throughout the year also contributes to the durability of the materials.
Characteristics of different materials
Each fabric has its own specific characteristics. The type of fiber directly influences the recommended care method. Always check the label to identify the cleaning code. Synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, generally offer good resistance to abrasion and stains.
Regular Care
- Vacuum, use a lint roller, or brush gently.
- For a light stain, use a warm, damp cloth with a mild detergent or a specialized machine for deep cleaning.
- Sprinkle baking soda and vacuum it up after a few hours is ideal for refreshing fabrics.
Before applying any product, test it on a small, inconspicuous area. Some chemicals can damage the fibers.
Pilling: This is a normal textile phenomenon where loose fibers become entangled due to friction (wear) to form small balls (pilling) on the surface of fabrics. It is particularly visible on synthetic or short fibers, but is not a sign of poor quality. It can easily be removed with a fabric shaver, a special pumice stone, a lint comb, or adhesive tape.
Regular care helps maintain the suppleness and elegance of the leather.
- Clean with a solution of water and mild soap (pH neutral), then wipe immediately with a dry cloth.
- As leather is a natural material, it may have unique grain patterns, scars, or markings that are part of its charm.
- Over time, it will soften and may show normal signs of wear.
- Natural skin oils and hair products can alter the finish. This type of wear is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
- Take extra care with sharp objects.
Wood is a renewable and sustainable resource, widely valued in Quebec.
Each species has its own aesthetic qualities. Over time, the color of the wood may change due to light, humidity, and oxidation. This is normal.
- Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- Clean as needed with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap (pH neutral).
- Avoid excess water, chemicals, or abrasives.
- Exotic wood species have unique natural variations.
- Each handcrafted piece is unique.
- Protect surfaces with coasters, trivets, and protective felt pads.
- Maintain ambient humidity between 25% and 45%.
- Lift the furniture rather than dragging it.
These noble and durable materials add a touch of elegance to your décor.
Their natural variations are part of their charm.
- A cloth dampened with warm water and mild soap is sufficient for daily cleaning.
- Avoid vinegar, lemon, and abrasive sponges.
- Wipe up liquids promptly, especially acidic or colored foods.
- Always dry the surface after cleaning.
- Protect surfaces with coasters, trivets, and protective felt pads.
